Note from Dave:
We appreciate this dyno sheet from our friends at Dunnuck Racing Enterprises. This is the first engine that we know of that has been dyno tested with one of our Whiplash cams.
We get a lot of questions on what kind of power increases to expect from these Whiplash cams. This test is very impressive from several standpoints.
#1. Look at the torque at 2500rpm.....over 500 ft-lb! Yowzers! That is tire shredding torque at just over idle. This should answer the question about needing a high stall torque converter. With over 500 ft-lb at only 2500 rpm you won't need much of a converter.
#2. With that peak torque at about 3700rpm and the horsepower peak at only about 5000 rpm, you won't have to spin it to high to enjoy it. Excellent for a street performance engine.
#3. 9.2:1 with aluminum heads is extremely low. That generally indicates disappointing performance. But, with the Whiplash cam it overcame the low compression problem and made a perfect street pump gas performer.
#4. With an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake you would probably see about 20-25 HP increase and a loss of about 15-25 lb/ft of torque. Also, you woudl exopect their repsective peaks to be about 300-400 rpm higher.
#5. We can supply all of the parts needed to build this combination.
