ANOTHER GEN3 HEMI DYNO TEST
This is a very unusual dyno test. The engine is built to use a Pro-charger, but the customer wanted it dyno’d without the supercharger to “see what it would do”. A quick answer to that question is, not much.
We started with a 5.7 block with all of our race prepped kit block work:
3.795 Molnar Tech forged crank (.215” stroker)
6.200 Molnar Tech rods, EFI Turbo billet rods, ARP 2000 bolts
Diamond custom piston for 8.40:1 CR 3.937 bore
370 cubic inches
5.7 heads with our C.N.C. work with Manley valves
2.100’ int.
Std . Exhaust diameter
Our HMR-2838 MHL-14 hydraulic roller cam
Manley timing chain assembly
ARP studs and fasteners thru out
Cleaned and polished rocker arms
ATI damper
MSP ignition controller, coils and wires
TTI 2” HEADERS
Rocker shaft stabilizer kit
Joe Gibbs Driven (what else?) BR 30 break-in oil
Holley 850 Carb
HUG5420 Intake manifold single 4bbl
Notes about this dyno test. The torque and power curves are very flat and low (if you can call 511 HP and 456 TQ low). But remember, the supercharger was not installed. With about 10# boost, these numbers will increase about 50/60%. With only 8.4:1 CR and a small cam with no overlap, this engine is running out of cam and cylinder pressure, but still looks good. With pump premium gas compression ratio and a normally aspirated cam, it should scare 600 HP.
It is interesting that this engine vs. the engine in Test #21 (which is a high compression) is a normally aspirated engine with a big cam, and both have very flat torque curves—very nice.
