Our “Melanized” gears are chemically treated steel gears that will operate with all types of camshaft materials. That means Standard Cast Cams all the way up to and including Billet Steel Roller Cams.
The only warning is that if you have used a bronze gear (as in 1950’s technology), the bronze that adhered to, or stuck to the cam (for the Chevy guys) must be completely removed from the camshaft gear, or you will damage your new Hughes Melanized Distributor Drive Gear…unless you own a Chevy – then it’s ok!!!! |
